Mindy grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska where Morris Collier and several Lincoln Public School music teachers inspired her to pursue playing the violin.  A summer at the Congress of Strings confirmed her love of music.  She attended Northwestern University as a violin performance major studying with Marc Zinger and Blair Milton while playing in the Northwestern University Orchestra under the leadership of Victor Yampolsky.  Mindy completed her degree at the University of NE, Lincoln.

Mindy's favorite early career performing experiences were playing in pit orchestras for musicals and operas in Chicago.  Mindy has since developed a great appreciation for fiddling thanks to Debby Greenblatt and Jenni Wallace and has immersed herself in a variety of fiddling styles.

Mindy is a member of the American String Teacher's Association and Omaha's Big Muddy Fiddle Club.  She currently serves on the board of the Great Plains Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association and manages their website.  You can catch Mindy playing around town as a member of Rivertown String Band or at regional fiddle contests in the summer.

Mindy wants to inspire her students in the manner that her teachers inspired her to love the violin/fiddle and to look forward to lessons.  She strives to provide her students with an environment where they can explore music by learning to play with a solid foundation of technique, music reading, aural skills and musical expression while instilling a lifelong passion for the violin.
